|Dear MA Families & Friends,
Thank You to our Volunteers!
For some people, volunteering is about giving. But for many of our parents, it is a way of living. Thank you for all that you do to support our community!
On April 9, we had the opportunity to thank our parents and family members who volunteer by inviting them to a High Tea. Elementary students served volunteers tea and delicious shortbread cookies baked by our Junior High students. Students spoke about the important roles volunteers play in their classroom, and music was provided by students playing soft piano and violin in the background. We were so pleased to be able to offer a small token of our appreciation for all that you do.
Volunteer Week is a national initiative that celebrates the value of volunteering across the country. While we are thankful every day of the year, we would like to join the widespread initiative to thank our volunteers during this meaningful week. Thank you.
Learn more about how you can volunteer on our school’s website under the Get Involved section: http://montessori.on.ca/get-involved/volunteer-opportunities/
Reminder: Spring Assembly
Kiwanis: Gold for the Uke Club
This exciting news rolled in just moments after last week’s Buzz went out. Congrats to the Ukulele Club on your great performance at Kiwanis this year!
Save the Date: ARTexpo is June 1!
Baby Bunnies at Oxford
Even though there have been few signs of spring lately…Oxford students found signs of the new season when students discovered a bunny nest under our slide!
This was a teachable moment about respecting nature. After some research, we discovered that the mommy rabbit does not actually sit on the nest all day…she is out feeding herself so that she has energy to nurse her young. We can tell by the healthy coat and round bellies on the babies that mom is doing a great job. Oxford students have all come together to protect and respect the nest area until the babies leave.
Casa 3 Mexico lessons
Casa 3 has been studying Mexico; during their music class, they made their own Casa 3 Mariachi band and practiced the Mexican hat dance! At the end of the week, they wrapped up their study with a fiesta! Students brought in the ingredients and helped make salsa with tortilla chips and avocado! Special thanks to Rohan and Asha for bringing in a piñata filled with goodies…the students thoroughly enjoyed breaking it open!
On Monday, the Junior girls competed in a floor hockey tournament at Kinsmen arena. Junior boys competed today; next, the Junior High girls will compete on Wednesday, and the Junior High boys on Thursday.
Thank you to the families and students who participated in Jersey Day last week to show support for the Humboldt Broncos players, families and community.
