Volunteer with MA!
We love our parent volunteers! They provide our students so much wisdom and real-life experience, and assist our teachers with lessons, hot lunch, and many other activities. They are an invaluable part of our school community. And you can be one of them! If you wish to volunteer with the school this year, please visit the Volunteer Opportunities page of our website for more information: http://montessori.on.ca/get-involved/volunteer-opportunities/
50th Celebration Volunteers wanted! There are plenty of opportunities to help out this year as we prepare for our big 50th Anniversary Celebration on June 1 & 2, 2018. Sign up for one of our 50th anniversary committees under the Get Involved link on our 50th Anniversary microsite: https://sites.google.com/montessori.on.ca/mhcma50
Vulnerable Sector Checks: For the safety of all of our children and in accordance with new regulations, we require volunteers to complete our Volunteer Application and Self-declaration form (PDF) every school year. Only the self-declaration is needed every year. The Police Vulnerable Sector Checks (PVSC) are only required every five years.
If you’ve submitted a full PVSC since 2012, we ask you to check the self-declaration box on the application form and submit the form to your child’s classroom teacher or Reception. If you need a PVSC, residents of London can apply for one online: London Police Service, Police Background Checks. Please note there is about a four-week waiting period in London for PVSCs to be processed.
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like a letter from the school to accompany your PVSC application.
Parent Drivers: Parents who want to provide transportation are asked to submit an Application to Transport MA Students (PDF) with relevant license and insurance details.

Changes happening around MA
There is plenty going on at MA this summer, including renovations and improvements at several locations. Junior 3 is getting a major renovation; the Outdoor Learning Environment at Oxford now has sturdy turf; and the porch of 707 Waterloo (Upper Elementary) has been replaced. There’s also a new fence at Westmount, improvements in Waterloo Central’s Toddler/Casa yard, and other touch ups around the school. Thanks to your donations, we have been able to check a lot of capital improvements off of our list this summer. Thank you!
And we have a bold, beautiful new school brochure…
Know anyone who is interested in learning more about Montessori or our awesome school? This brochure offers a great introduction. Ask for a copy at the Main Office or view and download a PDF of it online: http://montessori.on.ca/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/MontessoriAcademy-Brochure2017-WEB.pdf
FYI: The next Buzz eNewsletter
… will be sent on Tuesday, Sept. 5. Enjoy the rest of your summer break!!
See you in September!
