Montessori Buzz – April 12, 2022
Dear MA Families & Friends,
The school is closed on Friday and Monday
The school is closed on Friday and Monday in observance of the Good Friday and Easter Monday stat holidays. School resumes on Tuesday. Enjoy your long weekend! 🙂
Welcome back, Sara Heald!
If you popped by the Office last week you may have had the pleasure of seeing Sara Heald, our Executive Assistant, who recently returned from her maternity leave. Among her many responsibilities, Sara supports the Administrative team, facilitates Parent Rep communications, and serves as our Admissions Coordinator. She can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org and extension 223.
We are so grateful to long-time MA parent Jennifer Rayman for filling in as our Executive Assistant over the past 18 months. Thank you, Jennifer, and welcome back, Sara!

MA seeks an Occupational Therapist
Montessori Academy of London is looking to hire a Paediatric Occupational Therapist to work with our students requiring this service. We have recently developed a contract between MA and the Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) which enables more students to have access to services covered financially by the LHIN. We currently have a Speech & Language Pathologist working alongside the school to provide necessary speech therapy services. Essentially, our school covers the fees of the clinicians and the LHIN reimburses the school, taking the financial burden off of our families.
This could be a good opportunity for clinicians to provide more OT service during the school day. If you know of occupational therapists looking to work with school-age children during the school day (either in person or online if required by Covid guidelines), please have them contact Lisa Eastick for information: 519-433-9121 ext. 204.
Photos from the Week
Westmount messy creativity
Creativity is messy … but so important for the exploration of self!
Waterloo Toddler stroll
Toddler 2 explored the outdoors on a Nature Walk before the rain on Friday. We examined rocks, pinecones, squirrels and a fantastic leaf-blower being used.
Waterloo Casa at the park
Waterloo Casa took full advantage of last Tuesday’s beautiful weather to visit Piccadilly Park.
Casa 3 movable alphabet!
This Casa student showed such focus and concentration in completing our cursive alphabet…he is so proud of himself!
UE2’s chicks hatching!
Exciting times in UE2! The first peeps were heard yesterday after school! Watch our IG video of the first chick hatching yesterday: https://www.instagram.com/p/CcQEyWpDQdy/ And an update as of Tuesday morning – six chicks had hatched!
Senior Girls Basketball returns!
The Senior Girls hit the court last week. Great job, ladies. It’s so great to see the students back in action playing sports.
Bravo to our Alumna Maggie Mac Neil for self-advocating instead of putting competition above her wellbeing and health. (By the way, when we talk about Montessori education supporting children as they develop skills for living and thriving, this is an example of what we mean!)
