Sibling Applications

Applications to MA for siblings of current students are due by Friday, Jan. 12, for the 2024-2025 School Year. We continue to receive a high volume of applications for our Toddler and Casa programs, and would like to provide priority to our current MA families before new admissions are offered in March.
If you would like to submit an application for a child in your family, please login to the MA Parent Portal.  The online application can be found in the Resources section. Offers of Admission for siblings of current students will be provided shortly after re-enrolment closes in February.  Please feel free to contact Victoria with any questions: vlittle@montessori.on.ca or 519-433-9121 ext. 211.

Winter Concert RSVPs due this Friday

Our Winter Concert is Tuesday, Dec. 19 at Centennial Hall, and Casa. Elementary and Junior High students will perform some festive favourites. Please return in the tear-off forms to your children’s teachers (one per child) by this Friday.

Please note that there is no after-school Extended Hours care that day, except for our Toddler students.

Bus Feasibility Study – West End Only

In the past few years, we have explored the opportunity to provide a bus service for our students. However, one of the main challenges we ran into the last time was the vast area our families come from across the city. The distance of the bus routes, the amount of time children would be riding the bus, the location of the bus stops, as well as the expense, all deemed the service not to be feasible at the time.

We are trying this study one more time, as families in the same general area are curious about the possibility. To fill out this survey, you must currently live in one of the following neighbourhoods: Riverbend, Warbler Woods, Westmount and Bournewood Estates. This is the only area we are going to focus on for this study.
Elementary and JH students are eligible, however only Casa students registered at our Oxford or Waterloo Casa locations would be able to participate, as the bus run will only come to our downtown stop. Please have only one parent fill out the form as a main contact.

Watch for our Annual Appeal on Friday

“The work of education is divided between the teacher and the environment.”
– Dr. Maria Montessori
Let’s invest together. Tuition alone does not cover the full costs of operating our school. Our intentional learning environments are an ongoing investment.  This year we invested $850,000 in the renovation at 711 Waterloo St., and will invest an additional $250,000 for the installation of an elevator at Oxford St. this summer. But, we need your help with other areas of the school.  Each summer brings a list of repairs and replacements needed for each building and classroom.  If we all invest together, we can continue providing a world-class education in our beautiful and intentional learning spaces.
Why do we send the Annual Appeal out in December? Montessori Academy of London is a registered charity. The appeal comes out at the end of the year so those who have not donated in 2023 can maximize their donation contributions before the end of the calendar year. For those who have already donated, it lets you know what we need significant financial help with this school year.  Additionally, it gives you the option to spread your donation throughout the year by becoming a monthly donor. All donations received before Dec. 31, 2023, will be eligible for a 2023 Charitable Tax Receipt. Donations received during the remainder of the school year will receive a 2024 Charitable Tax Receipt.
Read about how your donation can help us with improvements across the entire school, at all grade levels, in the Annual Appeal letter going home this Friday.
You can donate online https://montessori.on.ca/get-involved/ways-to-give/ or by sending in the donation form enclosed with the letter. View or download a PDF version of our Annual Appeal Letter here.

Elementary Scholastic orders

A quick reminder to Elementary families buying scholastic books as gifts for the holidays: when you use classroom code RC150717, a portion of the purchase total will help replenish the Elementary Library with new, cool, up-to-date books! Thank you … And happy book shopping!

Photos from the week

Westmount Toddler birthday walk

The Montessori Birthday Walk is a wonderful way to celebrate the child. They hold the globe and walk around the sun once for each year they’ve been on the earth. This walk around the sun provides the children a sense of time.

Casa 1 festive counting

A number and counter math material extension sparked some excitement as Casa began to learn about Winter Celebrations Around the World last week! Ornament counting is so much fun!

Casa Culture lesson

Casa 3 would like to thank Huma and Qasim for visiting our classroom and teaching us all about Pakistan. We are so grateful to our families who join us in the classroom to teach our students about their cultures.

Junior High curling excursion

The JH students had fun learning to curl at the London Curling Club! The Junior High physical education program encourages students to participate in both individual and team sports, and work on areas such as communication, perseverance, leadership, sportsmanship and cooperation.
