Applications for Financial Support available now!

Applications for Financial Support opened last week on Friday through Apple Financial Services.  All applications must be submitted by Monday, January 9, 2023, to be eligible for support for the 2023-2024 school year. NEW this year: Families are eligible to apply to the program after completing only one year at Montessori Academy instead of two. All families currently enrolled in Toddler through Junior High are eligible to apply for support. Families must demonstrate a financial need.
Full details on how to apply, along with a Financial Support FAQ can be found through the MA Parent Portal under the Resources section. Or, through our website: https://montessori.on.ca/admissions/financial-support/

Staffing Update

Maintenance

We welcome Jim Campbell to our maintenance team. Jim started last week, and comes to us with a vast maintenance background, plus a bright and warm personality. He loves to ATV, is a very proud dad of his two adult daughters and is also a master chef! If you see Jim around our various locations, please welcome him to the MA community.

Toddler/Casa

We also welcome Heidi Nehme to MA! Starting on Dec.12, she will begin supporting 718 Waterloo’s Toddler and Casa classrooms. Heidi has just moved from Toronto and comes to us with over 12 years of experience in the early childhood education sector, and has spent the last few years opening and running a toddler program in Toronto. Heidi is very excited to start her Montessori Toddler training in the Spring as many elements of her work are aligned with Montessori philosophy.

Sports update!

Junior High basketball wrapped up last week. The boys played a great game and lost out in the second round of playoffs to Blessed Sacrament. The girls played a tough game against St. Jude London and qualified for the C Championship game last Friday. After shaking off some early nerves, the girls found their focus and the net, and were able to defeat the girls from Blessed Sacrament 21-5 in the final game. Congratulations to both teams on a great season!

Next up for students in Upper Elementary is boys’ and girls’ Junior Basketball.

PJ Day total!

Wow! Thank you to all the MA families who donated loose change on PJ Day!! $1,959.20 is the grand total! These generous donations will support Children’s Health Foundation and the creative art therapy in the Child & Adolescent Mental Health program.
