Montessori Buzz – Feb. 14, 2023

Dear MA Families & Friends,

Friday is a PD Day & Monday is Family Day

The office will be open on Friday, though teachers will be in all-day sessions; the office will close at 3 p.m. on Friday so that the faculty and staff can gather together as our staff holiday gathering was thwarted by Mother Nature in December. The school will be closed on Monday for the Family Day Holiday.

PD Day activities for our Faculty and Staff
Educators Isaac Murdoch and Jodie Williams will join our faculty and staff on the PD Day lead discussions that explore how we can weave Indigenous content and lessons on Reconciliation into our curriculum in thoughtful, age-appropriate ways. Exploring the Power & Potential of Indigenous Knowledge Systems will look at “how education can be a catalyst for societal change by enhancing our classrooms with the rich knowledge of the Original Peoples of this land.”

Speaking of Mother Nature messing with our plans….

Photos from the week

Casa 1 – keep going!

This little person worked so hard on the Hundred Board. The teacher’s goal for today was to lay out the tiles 1-20 in order. The child said, “Let’s keep going.” The teacher brought out tiles 21 to 50, thinking this will take quite enough concentration for today. The child got to 50 and said, “Let’s keep going.” The teacher conceded and said, “Let’s go to 70 today.” The child went to 70 and said, “LET’S KEEP GOING!” The accomplished smile at the end says it all, NEVER underestimate the child!
