Board message on Thursday: Strategic Direction 2022-2027

Watch for an email on Thursday from our Board of Governors introducing our Strategic Priorities that will guide the school over the next five years.

Board recruitment – Community Member

Our Board of Governors seeks a community member to join their board to replace an outgoing Governor completing their term. A ‘community member’ is not directly related to the school (ie. not a current parent or staff member), but could include Alumni and Alumni parents or a member of the greater London and area community. The board seeks candidates with expertise in Human Resources, Information Technology and Board governance. In addition to these areas, the Board would value any experience in the area of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion that a candidate could bring.

If you know anyone in your professional or personal networks who has the skill set the board seeks and is interested in sharing their expertise with our Board of Governors, please encourage them to reach out. The full posting is on Pillar Nonprofit’s website: https://pillarnonprofit.ca/volunteer/board-governors-community-member/montessori-academy-london-0

Carnaval – A message from Megan and Nathalie

Le Carnaval de Québec is coming to Montessori Academy! On Friday, February 10th we will be holding our own version of this beloved Québecois celebration. Elementary and Junior High students have been studying the history and traditions of this world renown festival and are très excités to experience a unique afternoon of team-building winter games, cultural activities and delicious treats. Even Bonhomme Carnaval is coming, all the way from Quebec City!
The festivities will be taking place outdoors regardless of weather conditions. Please ensure that students are dressed appropriately to spend the entire afternoon outside. Therefore, extra socks and mittens will be essential.
We are looking forward to a formidable afternoon of fun, culture and friends! Joyeux Carnaval!

FYI: Carnaval in Toddler and Casa

Our Toddler and Casa classrooms will host their own Carnaval celebrations next week. Please refer to your classroom’s monthly letter or calendar on the MA Parent Portal for details.

Year 3 Art

The year three students took inspiration from Elizabeth Coatsworth poem, ‘Cat on a Night of Snow,’ and created a cozy image of a cat warming himself by the fireplace. Some students even wrote the poem out in cursive to accompany their artwork.

Lower El math material

Some of our Year 2 students are hard at work completing their double-digit multiplication on the Montessori checkerboard.

Teamwork!

These students are in Years 1 through JH. On Monday, they combined forces to roll this big snowball across the tennis courts at the park. Bravo! Video: https://www.instagram.com/p/CoVQS9cDJvL/
