Casa Map of Asia – videos
UPDATE: Charlie is a senior Casa student at the Waterloo location. Last week, she was seen carefully outlining and painting her detailed map of Asia. Since then she has worked diligently at copying the names of the 50 Asian countries, locating them on the control map and gluing them on her map. The extended time and concentration required to complete detailed work similar to this is a real labour of love for our students. https://www.instagram.com/p/CKgrd7lnR2f/
Casa 3 Science!
This week Casa 3 studied all things science, including colour mixing to create music notes to correspond with the Curwen hand signals, and mixing baking soda and vinegar to make carbon dioxide!
Year 6 Art
Year Six students have brought their Culture studies of the Renaissance period to Art this week by taking the most famous painting of all time and bringing her forward to be a Modern Day Mona Lisa. How would Mona Lisa look if she were part of today’s society? Year Six student, Boston thinks she would be a political activist! Well done.

Teachers TV: The Montessori Method
Grab a snack and a seat on the couch, and take a look at this half-hour video on the rebellious visionary who inspires our work every day: Dr. Maria Montessori.
While it’s made in Britain, and refers on the British environment/state education system, it is universal as it discusses how traditional Montessori benefits the children – versus some pedagogies that use bits and pieces of the method. Originally shared via The Age of Montessori.

Green in the City – London composting program
In case you missed it on social media, London is planning its green bin composting program, and is seeking input from residents:
Green in the City this week will be discussing London’s Green Bin program. Sign up for this new video presentation taking place on Thursday, January 28 at 7:00 p.m. https://www.londonenvironment.net/green_city
(FYI: When the school introduced our green bin program a few years ago, we were able to cut the school’s landfill waste by about 85%.)
