Staffing news, Financial Support deadline, and Golden Anniversary sponsor announcement

Dear MA Families & Friends,

Welcome to 2018!

Extended Hours voucher and occasional use changes

Per the email that was sent right before the break, we’re updating how families pay for our Extended Hours (Early and After-school programs). Here’s a link to the e-mail for your reference.

Staffing Update

Rachel Nguyen has decided to move to a limited part-time role at the school starting in mid-January, so we welcome Sara Heald back to the front desk.

Financial Support Applications due this Friday, January 12

Financial Support is available to families with children who meet both of the following eligibility criteria:

  • The child is currently enrolled in at least 2nd or 3rd Year Casa, Elementary, or Junior High
  • The child has been enrolled at the school for at least two consecutive years

For full details, please visit the financial support section of our website: https://montessori.on.ca/admissions/financial-support/. Or, contact Victoria Little at vlittle@montessori.on.ca if you have additional questions.

Moving Up – Casa to Lower El Parent Panel and Tour Friday

This session and tour is for parents who have children in their third year of Casa. Please meet us at our Main Office/Elementary location at 719 Waterloo Street.

  • 8:45 – 9:15 a.m. Parent & Student Panel Discussion
  • 9:15 – 10:30 a.m. Elementary School Tour

Parking reminder: Turning around on Piccadilly

Now that the snow is here, it’s very important to avoid turning around on Piccadilly — either in the street or in the school’s driveway, especially during drop-off and pick-up times. The snowbanks obstruct the view of both drivers and pedestrians, and we want to ensure the safety of our students, parents, staff, and neighbours.

Activities from before the break…

Waterloo Casa’s visitor

A very special guest stopped by Waterloo casa to read us “A Handful of Numbers.” The children loved listening to this beautiful book about the world! Each page showed the appropriate number rod from 1 to 10 and an interesting world fact to match the world. Number 7 was our favourite – because there are seven continents that we know so much about!! Thank you, Tina, for sharing this beautiful book with us!!

Waterloo Casa – Turkey “dinner” before the holidays

Practical life skills at their finest as we are getting ready for our turkey lunch!! We love to take advantage of special occasions to set a fancy table where we all eat together.

Westmount’s Got Talent!

The students at our Westmount Casa location shared their talents with their classmates in a talent show before the break. Check out the videos on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/MontessoriAcademyofLondon/

Goodie Bags for Children at Anova

Our Junior High elves were spotted dropping off goodie bags for a special dinner Anova hosted in December for the families who were staying there this holiday.
