MA Staff milestones, welcomes and best wishes!

We are so fortunate as an organization to have staff that are highly dedicated to the work they do at the school, in guiding students along their Montessori journey and the partnerships they create with our parent community. At the end of each school year, we take the time to honour and celebrate each one of them, as they reach milestones in their career. This year we are excited to celebrate and recognize the following staff at our year end staff gathering:
  • Roxanne Gianelli, UE teacher – 20 years
  • Andressa Calderari, LE teacher – 15 years
  • Lisa DiPasquale, Westmount Casa teacher – 15 years
We would also like to congratulate Kristine Musgrove, our Music Teacher Assistant in Upper Elementary/Junior High on her wedding that took place at the end of May!

Goodbye & Best Wishes!

We want to send well wishes to Sara Crouse, from Waterloo Toddler, who is embarking on a new and exciting journey in Kelowna, BC to support a career opportunity for her husband, Erik. And, although sad for us (but exciting for her!!) Gail Deibert-Patterson is retiring. We are so grateful Gail was able to finish her long-standing career in the early years sector here at MA. She saved the best for last in sharing her time, talent and expertise with our Waterloo Toddler community. We will dearly miss her gratuitous heart, intentional ways and the warmth and kindness she extends to all, as well as her quick-witted humour. Gail is looking forward to focusing her creative energy on her art and dedicating more time to her family, especially with her sweet grandson. We wish them both luck as they move into the next phases of their lives!!

Welcomes!

With Toddler teacher Tiffany Hannam also preparing to welcome her first child with partner, Nate, in November, we are very excited to share with you that Andrea Thornton-Mohring (Toddler 2), Jaime Brush (Toddler 1) and Suzie Burridge (Toddler 1) will be our new staff members joining the Waterloo Toddler team.
Andrea has been working in the early learning sector for nearly 10 years. After graduating from Fanshawe College’s Early Childhood Education program, she began working in the field in a variety of early learning settings, her last several years in a toddler program.
Jaime graduated from the Bachelor of Early Childhood Program Development at Conestoga College. She brings experience working with children at all levels: infant, toddler and preschool; and she will join our Toddler program early in July. She says she is intrigued by independent learning and creating intentional, prepared environments.
Suzie began her journey as an Early Childhood Educator at Humber College and continued her studies to obtain her degree through Toronto Metropolitan University. Her most recent experience has been in a full-day kindergarten classroom in the Northwest Territories. She is excited to work with children in the toddler age group and watch their growth.

711 Waterloo Renovation Update

This summer we are finally embarking on a dream that has been percolating for many years! The centre house of our Elementary buildings will undergo significant renovations on all three floors this summer. It is a very tight deadline for all the work to be completed, so there are areas of the school that will start to be packed up in the last couple days of school in order for us to be ready for the movers at the start of the following week.
With the scope of the project, we are expecting the potential that some elements may not be completely finished for September, however we have plans in place for any areas that may be impacted and ask for patience upon our return. The Lower Elementary 1 classroom is the main priority in the project to be fully completed on time. This is also the reason our Camp Discovery program for our 4 to 6 year old students has been relocated to Oxford St. this summer since it usually takes place in the 711 building.
We are so grateful to the numerous donors in our community and beyond that have supported elements of the project to move forward, particularly the new Library space. The Library along with Lower Elementary 1, the lower level French classroom, new corridor between 719 and 711, a staff room, new cubbies for Lower Elementary 3, new meeting spaces for parents and teachers and a new resource room are all part of the plan.
In case you missed our video at the Gala on the plan of what is to come, take a peek here: https://vimeo.com/802753034/0fbdede7a1
We can’t wait to host you in our new spaces this fall!

Summer Hours and Holidays

  • The school will be closed Friday, June 30, in observance of the Canada Day holiday.
  • Starting Monday, July 3, Summer Office Hours are Monday-Friday 8:30 am-12 pm
