Montessori Buzz – June 22, 2021
Dear MA Families & Friends,
FYI: One more Buzz…
We will have one more Buzz of the school year next Tuesday with updates on the fun activities going on this week. (And it’s a lot! Stay tuned!)
Staffing Update
Angela Matthews, our school Librarian, has been on an extended leave from her role at the school since February. Since being away, it has allowed her some time to reflect on her career and she has made the decision to retire at this time. Angela has been an integral part of our staff community for almost 30 years. We will celebrate Angela’s many contributions to our school at our year-end staff event.
In Angela’s absence, Rob Loebach stepped in to take on the Librarian role. He has been a part of the fabric of MA for the last number of years, wearing many hats. He has been involved in our Early and Extended Hours programs, as well as supporting classrooms with supply work and delivering special presentations to the students based on his studio work and creative endeavours.
We are so excited to welcome Rob to MA as a full-time staff member taking on the role of Librarian and Extended Hours Coordinator as of September.
Final reminder that Friday is a PD Day
The last day of school is Thursday; Friday is a PD Day and the start of our SUMMER BREAK! We wish everyone a happy and safe summer!
Message from our Board President – Wednesday
Watch your inbox on Wednesday for a Year-end message from the President of our Board of Governors, Suzanne Fratschko Elliott.
Fundraising & Development Update
We are SO CLOSE!
In a year of trials and tribulations, where many schools and non-profits struggled to meet their fundraising goals I am so pleased to say we are ONLY $6,500 away from reaching our final, year-end fundraising goal. We are so fortunate to have had tremendous support from our families, board of governors, staff and community partners. We would love to end the year having met our goal, as a tribute to how our community rose above and beyond during such a tumultuous year.
This is our final fundraising ask of the school year! If you have not made a donation and are still considering doing so, please make it before June 30th so that we can achieve our fundraising goal and complete our Elementary Kitchen Project this summer. Every dollar donated will bring us that much closer to closing a successful fundraising year!
Just a reminder that you can still make your donation count for this school year by donating online before June 30th. https://montessori.on.ca/get-involved/ways-to-give/
Thank you to everyone who has contributed this year. We would not be MA-zing without you.
What’s For Dinner? Pick-up today!

Gym wear reminder
For students in Elementary and Junior High, please complete this link: Montessori Academy Gym Wear Flyer JUNE 2021.pdf Gym Wear Form and return to Tameka at tbrown@montessori.on.ca on or before July 2. Reminder: we now accept cash, cheque, Debit, MasterCard, Visa, Amex or Apple Pay.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are not able to have samples set up in the main office as usual. Because of this, we are asking that parents of returning students gauge their child’s size by the set of gym wear worn in the last school year.
For our Casa students who are entering Elementary in September, families can meet Tameka at the Main Office on Monday, June 21 through Thursday, June 24 between 8:30-4:15 pm to choose from sizes that she will have available. To adhere to physical distancing measures, only two persons will be allowed in the office at a time.
