Congratulations and thank you to our Elementary Art Teacher, Meghan O’Brien, and the Art Expo volunteers for putting together such a beautiful, interactive evening of connection, creativity and community! Westmount Toddler watering

Watering plants is a key activity for children in the Montessori classroom. It teaches children to care, to love, and to have empathy for other living things. The most important thing children will learn is to have a genuine respect for nature. Plants and animals are all living things and need water to survive, just as humans do.

Westmount Casa love letters

Calling all Westmount Grandparents & Special Friends. Your special day is coming up! This is a reminder for Grandparents (and Special Friends!) to check your mail boxes next week for a special surprise from your “love bug”! We appreciate all you do for us!

Waterloo Casa’s special friend

Friday was a beautiful day for Waterloo Casa 6 to hit Piccadilly Park. They had a very special friend join them: Tina, our MA-zing Executive Director!

Look what’s growing with Casa 2

Casa 2 is loving Spring and the planting season. We are spending lots of time pulling weeds, planting and watering. Our strawberries are already blooming and we can’t wait to pick them in a couple of weeks.

Lower Elementary math!

Lower El 3 students Robert and Daniel independently explored the Bead Cabinet last week, and made their own book of cubing. They worked on it for three days, completely on their own, after being given a lesson on squaring. So amazing! #followthechild

Education Week article on ‘invented spelling’

Montessori Jewish Day School recently shared an ‘Education Week’ article on social media with the note: “In Montessori classrooms, students learn to write phonetically before they learn to read. These Canadian researchers found that phonetic writing (‘invented spelling’) leads to better readers!” And it supports Montessori language curriculum.
