Casa 4 Acts of Kindness
In keeping with our 1000 Acts of Kindness theme, we are enjoying taking the principles of kindness and compassion out into our community through partnering with the Humane Society of London Middlesex to enrich the lives of animals that are less fortunate. The humane society provides temporary shelter for surrendered, neglected and abused animals while trying to find forever homes with new families. Animals are deserving of respect and moral concern and as such we are trying to do our small part in making the world a better place for them. The children really enjoyed a visit from Emily and her fur baby kitten “Marie”.

Waterloo Casa made apple crisp!
Practical life skills never tasted so good! Our students in our Waterloo Casa classroom spent time on Friday preparing the ingredients for a very yummy treat. They loaded up the mason jars and decorated them with a Thanksgiving theme to take home and enjoy. YUM!

Thanksgiving at Westmount
The students from Westmount Casa hope everyone had a chance to fill their tummies and visit with family and friends over the Thanksgiving weekend. And maybe you were able to enjoy the cranberry sauce that we made for you to share with your loved ones! YUM!

Lower El’s 1000 Acts of Kindness
The pile is growing every day! Thank you so much to all the Lower Elementary students and families for these Week 1 donations to Merrymount Family and Crisis Centre! The donations will continue for the entire month of October! Merrymount is super-grateful for the incredible support – per their post pictured below: “Thank you so much Montessori Academy of London. This means so much to us, we are very grateful. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.”

Upper El visitor in Casa 3
We were blessed to have some Upper Elementary friends join us today in Casa 3. We loved listening to the stories they wrote and seeing the lovely illustrations.

Upper El baking
UE1 had been busy baking in the classroom! Twice a week students can sign up to bake using our class kitchen. They are encouraged to search for recipes with healthy ingredients. Kai and Boston tried out a new banana brownie recipe, while Sadie made her favourite birthday treat with her pal Sophie! Happy birthday Sadie!

Montessori in the community
Of the many musicians among us…
Tessa successfully auditioned to perform as a soloist with the London Community Orchestra in its December 15 concert. This is an extremely competitive event and she is one of a few (if not the only) elementary aged student to perform with the LCO in its Young Artists concerts.
She notes that she is a student at the Montessori Academy of London in the bio that will appear in the program. We are very proud of the diverse talent found among our students! Congrats, Tessa!
For more details on the LCO December 15, 2019 concert line-up: http://www.lco-on.ca/eng/concert-season/dec-15-2019/
Our students stand out for all the right reasons!
A note from a new MA Year 2 mom: “You can add Kustermans Berry Farm to the local organizations that just love when MA comes for a visit! Charley and I went on the PD day and when I mentioned that Charley was returning after having enjoyed her field trip so much with MA the previous week, the woman’s eyes grew wide and she said ‘Oh, that was a great day. The Montessori group is always such a pleasure. I’m always amazed. So polite, so well behaved…’ It’s exactly that kind of environment and group dynamic that keeps us choosing Montessori. :-)”
Eat with the Beet!
Last week, our Toddler, Casa and Elementary families had the opportunity to Eat with the Beet! at the beautiful Growing Chefs! Ontario headquarters on King St. Parents and their children sampled the tasty and nutritious meals that the students enjoy as part of their lunch program. It was a great chance to not only showcase the incredible menu items The Beet Cafe prepares for our students, but to talk to the food experts about ways to encourage healthy eating at home. Thank you to all the MA families who attended!
