Montessori Buzz – Oct. 17, 2023
Dear MA Families & Friends,
Policy reminder: Delayed StartAs noted in the 2023-2024 Parent Handbook and your printed Year at a Glance Calendar (PDF), in the case of extremely bad driving conditions (ie. due to ice, not fog; and when TVDSB buses to city schools are cancelled), the school leadership may decide on a ‘delayed start’ to the school day. In such instances, there will be no Early Hours program, and school will start at 9:30 a.m.
A text message will be sent to MA families and staff by 6:30 a.m., with an email to follow; other communication channels (school website, social media) will be updated as soon as possible after.

![]() Acts of Kindness Month!Lower El – Supporting the Child Life Program
A big thank you to the Lower Elementary families that have sent in a donation to the Child Life Program at the Children’s Hospital. We are so grateful! Donations will be accepted until the last day of the month!
![]() Our Casa and Upper El families are asked to donate to the London and Area Food Bank, while Junior High’s families are invited to donate new socks for Pursuit519; the goal is to collect 519 pairs of socks by November. Thank you to all of our families who are able to support your classroom’s donations.
Westmount ToddlerThere has been lots of play, learning and fun in the Westmount Toddler classroom. After all, “Play is the work of the child.”
![]() Casa Circle R Ranch tripOur Casa students took a field trip to Circle R Ranch this week! For many it was their first field trip with the school, and their first ride on a big yellow bus!
![]() Grace and Courtesy in CasaHere’s an example of Grace and Courtesy in action! In a traditional Montessori Casa program, opportunities for the awareness of one’s needs and the needs of others are supported through our virtue lessons in Grace and Courtesy, and our Peace Education. Children become profoundly aware of the importance of noticing and acknowledging the needs of others while also honouring their own needs through discussions, modelling behaviour, and dramatization of feelings, positive socialization and conflict resolution.
![]() UE Culture studiesDuring their study of the Middle Ages, the Year 6 students got to try on some chain mail! Huzzah! And our Year 4’s were learning about ancient Egyptian gods and goddesses!
