Remembrance Day Assembly 2022
New location and time for our annual Elementary and Junior High assembly
We are excited to host our annual Remembrance Day Assembly at The Academy Circus this year. The venue is located at 1490 Richmond Street.
This assembly is always a beautiful, poignant presentation with performances by our students in Years 1-8.
- Where: At The Academy Circus – 1490 Richmond Street
- When: Friday, Nov. 11, 2022 – 1:30-3:00PM
Students are welcomed to go home straight from the Academy with their parents if they are able to. Everyone else will be bused back to the school in time for regular dismissal and Extended Hours, if necessary.
Elementary & Junior High parents: please watch for an RSVP which will be sent home in the next week or two; we ask you to return it to your child’s teachers by Friday, November 4, 2022.
Weather-related Closure Communication policy
In the event of severe weather, the school’s administration will make a decision about closing the school by 7:15 am, if possible. If we decide to close the school, we will send a text message/SMS followed by an email to all families through the same distribution list as our Buzz eNewsletter. If you have not received a text message or email by 7:25 am, it is safe to assume the school is open.
Also, we follow the Thames Valley District School Board – if the public school board closes its administrative offices and all city schools, Montessori Academy will close, too. (We do not follow bus cancellations.)
We will follow up any school-closure text message and email with posts via our social media accounts, and update our website’s homepage. However, we ask families to please check your text messages and email first for school closure announcements. Please note: If you have opted out of the student directory, you will not receive an SMS/Text message from us.
Please also remember that if on any stormy day you do not feel safe driving to school, you are welcomed to keep your child(ren) home.
Board of Governors recruitment – Community member
The Board has extended the application deadline for a new community member to replace an outgoing Governor completing their term. Priority will be given to candidates with expertise and knowledge in Human Resources, Information Technology, and/or Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Previous experience sitting on a Board and an understanding of board governance is helpful. The Board is currently accepting applications and actively recruiting for this role. We thank our parent community for sharing this post with their networks.
