The Last Buzz of 2021-2022!
Dear MA Families & Friends,
ATTENTION: Returning MA Families
Login changes coming soon to the MA Parent Portal
Our platform provider for the MA Parent Portal (Blackbaud), is updating their security measures. This will affect how parents login to the MA Parent Portal moving forward. In mid-July, we will send you an email with an invitation to update your MA Parent Portal login to a “Blackbaud ID” (BBID) using your email address. This new login provides increased security and will be effective when you sign into the portal in mid-August for our return-to-school information we send each summer. And speaking of…
August Information email
Watch for an email during the week of August 22 with important information for the start of school on September 6. All of this information has moved onto the MA Parent Portal, so please take a moment to update your portal login in July, and review the pieces in August to prepare for the first day of school.
CWELCC update
The City of London will share its application guidelines and proposed agreement for the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Plan (CWELCC), once approved by city council this summer. Details will then be released to organizations that have licensed programs at the end of July. After we receive this information, we’ll review the details and implications it will have on the school, and send an email update to families in early August.
Summer Hours
This week, the office is open regular hours (8:15am-4pm) for Faculty Week. Starting Monday, July 4, Summer Office Hours are 8:15am-12:15pm. The Office will be closed for the week of July 11. We will resume regular hours the week of August 29. School starts on Tuesday, September 6.
Have a spectacular summer!
Last Chance to Donate for the 2021/2022 School Year
Montessori Academy of London is a registered charity and non-profit organization which means that every dollar we earn is invested into our school. Tuition covers just over 95% of our expenses which is why fundraising is so important – so we can provide the special extras you love and address the gap between tuition and the expense of delivering high-quality, traditional Montessori education to our families. During this summer, donations will be used to purchase program equipment, furniture for the Elementary Library, and complete maintenance on many areas of the school. To view the many funds and areas of need within the school that you can support visit https://Montessori.on.ca/ways-to-give
We are grateful for each and every gift, no matter what size or shape it comes in. If you would like to make a contribution for this school year, you can still donate online until Thursday, June 30, 2022: https://Montessori.on.ca/ways-to-give.
Where in the world is Montessori Academy?
Let’s bring back this lost tradition. If you’re travelling this summer and happen to have some MA merch or Gym Wear with you, snap a photo wearing it and tag the school’s social accounts:
- Instagram/Facebook: @montessoriacademyofLondon
- Twitter: @MAofLondon
Or, you can email the photos directly to Linda in the office: lyovanovich@montessori.on.ca. Bon voyage!
A message from Deborah Carver, Casa 1
Deborah is retiring after more than 30 years with the school. She’s written a lovely message to families and staff that truly sums up what makes Montessori such a gift – to the children, to their families and to the world. Take a read through it here: An Open letter to Families and Staff.pdf
Scholastic Books for summer reading – Elementary
If you’re looking to buy books for your kids over summer, visit Scholastic’s website to order, https://classroomessentials.scholastic.ca/, and use our MA Elementary scholastic code RC150717 to help buy new books for the Elementary Library.
MA in the Community
Gretta and Amalia are so grateful to the school community and our neighbours in Old North for helping to support their fundraiser for the Canadian Whale Institute Campobello Whale Rescue Team (https://www.canadianwhaleinstitute.ca).
After learning about some of Canada’s endangered whales, they wanted to find a way to help the cause. They made a total of 140 whale- and fish-shaped crayons by melting down old broken crayons.
Through donations for these crayons at the Artisan Market in May, they were able to raise $479.30 to send to the Campobello Whale Rescue Team – a group that helps to rescue whales tangled in fishing gear in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Bravo!
Congratulations Grade 8 Class of 2022
What a beautiful evening for a return to FireRock Golf Club! Congratulations to our Graduating Class – it’s been a bumpy ride these last few years, but you arrived in style! Good luck!
Showered with Love: Congratulations, Savannah!
Well, the students pulled it off and were able to surprise UE 2 teacher Savannah with a high tea bridal shower on Tuesday! Everyone had a wonderful time, eating, drinking and playing bridal shower games. Savannah is grateful for this special day!
