MA welcomes Tina into leadership role

Tina Sartori, Montessori teacher and administrator, named
Executive Director of the school

July 4, 2017 – London, Ontario – Montessori Academy of London officially welcomed Tina Sartori, a longtime teacher and administrator, into the role of Executive Director on July 1, 2017.

Sartori joined the school as a preschool/Casa teacher 16 years ago, and moved through several roles, eventually becoming the school’s Admissions and Development Coordinator in 2012.

“Under Tina’s leadership, the school, which is a not-for-profit registered charity, established a formal development program that has resulted in significant funds raised for the school totaling over $450,000. These funds are imperative to the school because it receives no funding from the provincial government,” explains Margaret Whitley, who has served as the school’s Executive Director since 2004 and who is retiring to pursue a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Non-Fiction Writing degree.

Throughout her career, Sartori has demonstrated a passion for education and child development, including an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Child Studies from the University of Guelph and an Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) diploma from the Foundation for Montessori Education in Toronto.

Sartori brings to the role more than 15 years of experience with Montessori Academy through progressive roles at the school and has well-rounded experience in both Montessori teaching and school administration.

“Spending 12 years as a Casa teacher, five years on the Admin team in both Admissions and Fundraising, two years as an Ex-officio Board Member — and, of course, seven years as a parent in the school — has all provided me a great foundation and expansive scope of the inner workings of our school,” says Sartori.

Over the past year, Sartori has worked closely with school leaders and the Board of Governors to prepare to take over the role. “It has been a year rooted in experiential learning from many resources and materials, just like Montessori, to prepare me for launching MA into the next 50 years and I can’t wait!”
