Montessori Buzz – May 20, 2025
Welcome to the world, MA’s Infant program!
We are so excited to announce that we’re offering a new program to support London and area families: Montessori Academy’s Parent & Infant program!
The weekly parent and child classes will be tailored for two different age categories: children ages 2 to 10 months (‘Infants’) or children ages 10 to 18 months (‘Movers’), because we recognize that both parents and infants in these two age groupings have very different needs. The sessions run for 8 weeks, and will be offered three times each year starting in October 2025.
Each Parent & Infant class will invite the caregiver to connect with their child, the teachers, as well as the other families, in a welcoming and compassionate environment. Like the rest of our programs, this work is grounded in our core values of respect, curiosity, Montessori and community.
Registration for our October session opens on Sunday! For more information, visit our website https://montessori.on.ca/programs/infant/ or contact Jennifer Rayman, Registrar, jrayman@montessori.on.ca.

Registration for Shawn’s Red Door Media Camp is still open – there are a few spots left in Session 2 — July 14-18. We talk about practical life skills in Montessori — and this is a fantastic opportunity for our Year 6-8 students to learn practical skills in multimedia production!

FYI: Update from Ministry of Health – Measles outbreak
Ontario, like many parts of the world, is experiencing a large measles outbreak, with approximately 1,440 outbreak cases reported as of May 8, 2025. Over 90% of cases in Ontario linked to this outbreak are among individuals who are unimmunized or of unknown immunization status, and approximately 50% of outbreak-related cases in Ontario have been among individuals between the ages of 5 to 19.
Under the Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA) measles vaccine records or valid exemptions for students must be reported to the local public health agency. This reporting supports the public health response to a measles case and exposure in a school, as records are available to identify individuals who are not immune. Individuals who are not immune and have been exposed to measles will be required by the local public health agency to be excluded from school to prevent additional exposures in the school should they become infected.

A sweet moment in Lower El 2 as one of the Year 3 students helps his Year 1 classmate tie his shoe. This is the beauty of the mixed-age classroom!

JH Yoga with Adrienne
What a beautiful day to close out our yoga sessions with Adrienne Sultana. Students reflected on the goals they identified earlier in the year as some of them get ready to head off to high school.
