Montessori Buzz – Dec. 2, 2025

Dear Families and Friends,

Blaze the Trail: One Week In and the Ball is rolling!

We’re doing cartwheels because after just one week, our Blaze the Trail campaign has raised $5,028 toward our ambitious $60,000 goal! This incredible start shows the power of our community coming together to make a difference.

But we’re just getting started—there’s still a long trail ahead, and we need your help to keep the momentum going! Every contribution, big or small, brings us one step closer to an amazing gym space for our students and community.

Will you help us hit $10,000 by next week?

Here’s a few ways how…

  • Donate now and help us get to the next milestone!  https://montessori.on.ca/blaze-the-trail
  • Share the campaign with friends and family—spread the word!
  • Follow our progress and celebrate each achievement with us.

For questions regarding this campaign please contact Tonya Dendrinos, Fundraising Director at tdendrinos@montessori.on.ca.

Increase in Respiratory Illnesses

London is currently being hit very hard with respiratory illnesses and what is happening in the community is also what we are seeing here at the school. The following bulletin was put out by MLHU yesterday:

Following a rise in hospitalizations, emergency department visits, and outbreaks in congregate care settings, the Associate Medical Officer of Health is declaring that the region has entered a high-risk period for the acquisition of respiratory infection.

If there is any updated guidance on school processes or protocols from the MLHU, we will let families know ASAP. The most likely one to change is the move from being 24 hours fever- and medication-free before returning to school, to 48 hours before returning to school; however we are not there yet.  In the meantime, we have increased cleaning to high-touch surfaces.

Reminder of our School Guidelines (in the Year at a Glance calendar)

*Fever – Parents will be notified any time their child has a fever of 38.OC (100.4F), at which point we will require the child to be picked up from school. Children must be fever- and medication-free for 24 hours before returning to school. Medicated children must stay home from school to recuperate.

PJ Day final tally!

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your support in raising funds for ChildCan on Pajama Day! A final count landed us at $1,536.90! This money will go to funding parking passes and comfort items to make life easier for hospitalized children and their families. Thank you so much for contributing to making the world a better place!

Please accept our dearest thanks for your kindness and generosity,
ChildCan Committee of Junior High Students

Phys Ed Updates

Reminder: Dress for the weather!

Please remind your student to dress appropriately for walking to and from the gym during the winter months. Gym shorts should be worn under pants or joggers — not over them. This allows students to stay cool, run more freely and also limits sliding on the floor, which is a safety hazard.

Senior Hockey

The team played Monday morning, and logged a W for their efforts! They athletes are looking forward to two more games, on December 9 and 16 at 8am, at Kinsmen arena. Good luck players!

Swim to Survive in full swing

This three -session program is for students in Year 3. The students walk to the Centre Branch YMCA and are given a lesson on how to ROLL into water, TREAD water for 1 minute and swim 50m. Please dress for the walk, and include a plastic bag to carry wet things back to the school.

Junior Basketball

Junior Basketball is for students in Years 4-6. Details outlining the teams will be posted on the UE website and sent home in a few weeks with any UE students interested in participating.

Photos from the Week

From our Parent & Infant program: The Montessori Mobile

Montessori Mobiles — like the Dancers Mobile pictured here — are designed to engage the baby without being visually or auditorily overstimulating. Undisturbed time to watch the mobile provides the infant time to strengthen their visual and cognitive development. The baby naturally lets their caregiver know when they are finished with the mobile by looking away.

Do you know any parents of babies who might be interested in joining us? There are still a few spaces in the Winter Infant session (2-10 months old) that starts in January. More information can be found on our website: https://montessori.on.ca/programs/infant/ These supportive and social parent and baby sessions are a beautiful introduction to Montessori.

Toddler snack time

The pride a child feels when he prepares morning snacks for his peers! This took place during one of our school tours, and made a big impression on the visiting parents.

Snowy Monday Smiles

Nothing but smiles when it comes to outdoor playtime in the snow!

Junior High shared space

Our senior students kindly shared their space on Thursday for our most recent Lunch & Learn parent session. They relocated to the community room to study for an upcoming test. Thanks, friends!
