Heads-up: January Update letter
On Thursday, we’ll share a message from our Executive Director, Tina Brown, with updates on projects, re-enrolment, upcoming activities, and summer programs. It’s packed with important details, so we encourage parents to take a few minutes — maybe with your favourite beverage — and give it a read! Watch for the push notification Thursday afternoon.

Photos from the week
Casa Peace Mat
The Montessori Peace Mat is a special piece of work consisting of a beautiful mat and a small hourglass timer. This work is usually for one child: The child takes it out, sits on the mat and practices quiet and reflection while the timer runs. The other children in the classroom practice respect by ensuring not to interrupt the child’s mindfulness practice.
Recently, two friends underwent this practice together. The teacher looked over and observed the beauty of this choice; two children showing self-discipline and respect for each other’s mindfulness practice.

Casa sensorial extensions
In Montessori, sensorial extensions are activities introduced after a child has mastered the basic presentation of a sensorial material. These extensions are designed to deepen a child’s understanding, challenge their memory, and encourage creative application of concepts like size, color, and dimension.

UE1’s classroom pets
There was lots of excitement this morning in UE1. We welcomed two tiny hamsters to our classroom environment.
They were the topic of name debates and a vote. We’re thrilled to introduce Lucy and Penny!
The students are so excited to get to know our new additions, and we’ve discussed all the responsibilities they will take on caring for our new pets!
