Blaze the Trail Update!

Over the Winter Break, one of our Montessori families shared a wonderful story: during their holiday dinner, a conversation about the need for a new gym floor inspired a grandparent — who absolutely loves attending Grandparents’ & Special Friends’ Day — to make a generous contribution to the project. It’s moments like these that remind us how meaningful our school traditions are and how they strengthen the bonds within our community.

Thanks to all the generous gifts we received over the holidays, we’re making great progress toward our summer gym floor project. We’re so grateful for the incredible support from our community! Donate online: Montessori.on.ca/blaze-the-trail

Also, we have Junior High babysitters available to care for our younger students on PD Days. Please contact the Front Desk for the list.

Photos from before the Break

Westmount Casa Holiday celebrations

‘Twas the season for celebrations and traditions, such as Hanukkah and Kwanzaa which are shared by many all over the world. Together we lit the menorah and made our friendship fruit salad which was served from our Mkeka.

Collage of four images showing a classroom celebration of Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. The top-left image shows a child holding a colorful drawing of a menorah. The top-right image features a brass menorah with three lit candles, placed on a table with children seated in the background. The bottom-left image shows a child receiving a portion of food from a tray filled with fruit. The bottom-right image displays a large orange bowl filled with a vibrant fruit salad, placed on a traditional Mkeka.

Another huge Holiday Lunch in the books

The Elementary & Junior High Holiday Lunch is one of our favourite traditions! What a great send-off before the Winter Break. Thank you to all of the staff and students who helped with the feast.

UE Gingerbread fun!

Big kids love sweet fun too. We had a blast decorating (and eating!) gingerbread cookies.

Junior High’s ‘Pasta Dinner’

In Junior High we used to have a long-standing tradition of hosting a school-wide pasta dinner. We haven’t done it for years, but the tradition has never been forgotten… This year, alumnus Ben Connors (class of 2012) stopped by before the Winter Break to make his famous marinara and Alfredo sauces. He worked alongside Gage to re-create the meal prep we would do when Ben was a student here.

Two photos showing a kitchen scene during a pasta lunch preparation. The left image features a person wearing a plaid shirt and a white apron standing in a modern kitchen holding a dark oven mitt while student leans on him. The right image shows two people working together at a stovetop, pouring water into a large pot with pasta inside.
