Photos from the Week
Grandparents’ & Special Friends’ Day
What a perfect day for our visitors to stop by our classrooms. A grandparent visiting from Trinidad offered some beautiful words after her visit to Lower Elementary. “This … is was what learning should be. It should take place in a shared space where children are at ease to be themselves and guided gently. Thank you for Grandparents’ Day!” We are so happy to host our grandparents and special friends each year so they can see for themselves the beauty of the Montessori learning environment.

Toddler serving – Instagram video
“The greatest sign of success for a teacher … is to be able to say: ‘The children are now working as if I did not exist.’” – Dr. Maria Montessori

This video has garnered over 5,000 views on social media. It’s such a perfect example of mastering a task and how our Toddler students can work independently.
Lower El’s Montessori Magic
There was some serious Montessori Magic captured in Lower Elementary last week. In the top photo, our LE2 students were engrossed in their work; although this peaceful focus often surprises our visitors, we know that this is common in the Montessori learning environment. In LE3, the Year 3 students demonstrated just how ready they are to move up to UE — teaching the geometry lesson to their friends perfectly.

Year 2 art
The Year 2 students are learning the difference between drawing from their imagination and trying to replicate an existing image. They are developing such patience and diligence to focus on all the details. There is still work to BEE done, but during the process they are expressing great pride in their accomplishments!

Last week’s track meet
Congratulations to all our athletes that took part in the track meet last week at Western University. We had many individual successes. Thanks to everyone who came to cheer us on!
