Montessori Buzz – March 24, 2026

Dear MA Families and Friends,

Spring Fling Tickets Are On Sale Now!

Join us on Saturday, April 25, for our Spring Fling Family Dance Party — a fun filled community event and all ages dance party presented by Music City Canada and Bronnenco Construction.

Enjoy live music by the Justin Maki Band and professional DJ entertainment from Music Central, with music generously funded by the Paul Seed Fund at London Community Foundation.

This year’s Spring Fling is a fundraiser for our Blaze the Trail campaign, supporting the installation of our new gym floor — so every ticket helps us take another step forward!

Get your tickets today and come celebrate with us! Montessori.on.ca/spring-fling

Reminder: All children attending Spring Fling must be accompanied by a parent or adult for the entire event; adults also need to purchase a ticket to join in the fun! We appreciate your help in keeping Spring Fling safe, smooth, and enjoyable for everyone.

Our 718 Kitchen Project is complete – Thanks to you!

Thank you to everyone who donated to the 718 Kitchen project last year — and to our Facilities team for their hard work over the March Break — the kitchen renovation at our 718 Waterloo St. Toddler and Casa location is now complete!

A note from Lesley, Waterloo Casa teacher – “While most of us were enjoying our March Break, Jim and Shawn, and an amazing construction team, were putting in long days (and weekends!) to completely transform our very tired kitchen into something incredible. I honestly cannot get over the difference!

“Also, a big thank you to Freddie and the cleaning team for jumping in to help clean everything up and move items back in.”

Your generosity has transformed this once‑outdated space into a warm, modern, and functional kitchen that will support our youngest learners for years to come. This year’s campaign is still going strong as we work toward completing the gym floor this summer! Learn more or make a gift at Montessori.on.ca/blaze-the-trail

New video: Parent & Infant program

He’s done it again! Our MA-zing JH teacher and visual storyteller Shawn Butler has created another beautiful video to help us share our Montesstory with the masses – this time, about our new Parent & Infant program. We encourage you to take a few minutes and give it a watch

FYI: our Spring Infant (2-10 months old) and Movers (10-18 months old) sessions have filled up, but there are a few spaces available in our Movers 2 (18-30 months old) session.

UE Home Alone Course

By Maude and Scarlett

The Home Alone course is a really great course for kids because it teaches us so much. It helps kids to become independent at home on their own. It helps us because if we didn’t do it then our parents probably wouldn’t let us stay home alone. It taught us what to do in a thunder storm.  It also taught us what to do in rare, but good to know situations like what poison symbols mean (for example, the more lines around the symbol, the more dangerous it is). But not just poison control symbols, stuff like what to do if there is a fire or the smoke alarm goes off. We also learned what to do if you see a stranger or someone you might not know, do not talk to them or let them in. If someone calls on the phone, and you realize it says unknown caller, don’t answer it. If you do pick the phone up, tell them that your parents are busy and that you can take their name and phone number. Don’t tell them anything more than that. While you are home alone, that also means you need to be responsible, and not goof around, it’s for your own safety. We learned houses sometimes make noise but we learned it’s ok to be a bit scared because things will be fine.

All of this information is taught very specifically in the home alone course. That is why it is so important to take it so you know what to do in any case when you’re home alone.

Beach Day/Jersey Day

Another fun fundraiser for our good friends at CHF. What a great way to kick off March Break. Stay tuned for a grand total of donation.

Waterloo Casa Paralympian visit

Before the break we welcomed 4-time Paralympic champion Darda Geiger into our class to learn about her experiences winning gold in Sydney and silver in the Athens summer games. Such a huge accomplishment! Thank you for taking the time to come in and show us all your medals — and the fun party trick with your “robot leg”!
