Montessori Buzz – March 3, 2026

Dear MA Families and Friends,

Beach Day / Jersey Day is FRIDAY!

By Sofia and Juliet

Dear Marvelous Montessori Parents,

As you may know, we at Montessori are a charitable bunch. That’s why this year on Friday, March 6, we will have Beach Day for the Toddlers, Casas, Lowers, and Uppers, and Jersey Day for the Junior Highs!

We are going to be using this special day as an opportunity to support the Children’s Health Foundation! All the money we raise will go to the music therapy program from Yoto’s, and a new aquarium for the pediatric medical day unit (PMDU). We would appreciate it if your child brought loose change to school to help us reach our goals. [Please view this PDF for a description the music therapy program and aquarium – Feb 2026]

The Children’s Health Foundation is an amazing support program to help kids when they are in the hospital. We hope you will be able to help us make it even better!

Thanks for participating in making the world a better place!

MMUN Trip 2026

By Maya Kassaby

Recently, 10 Junior High students had the opportunity to travel to New York City as a group to participate in the MMUN conference. Throughout the conference, we worked closely with our committee groups to research global issues, draft resolutions, and work toward achieving consensus. It was very interesting to hear a variety of perspectives and collaborate with students from around the world.

During the debates, we learned the importance of listening carefully, thinking critically, and finding compromises that reflect multiple viewpoints. Although it was challenging at first, we gradually became more confident in speaking and presenting our ideas. This experience strengthened our public speaking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

We also had the opportunity to explore the city of New York. We saw many tourist attractions such as the One World Trade Center, the Statue of Liberty, the New York Public Library, Brooklyn Bridge and so many other places. We also were able to stay in the Hyatt Centric in Times Square. Being able to explore the city just added to the wonderful opportunity of being able to go to attend this year’s MMUN conference.

Overall, attending MMUN was a valuable and memorable experience for our group. We not only deepened our understanding of global issues and diplomacy, but also built confidence as delegates and formed meaningful connections with other students. We are very grateful for the opportunity to represent our school in New York City.

UE2 Chinese New Year presentation

Thank you to MA Mom Lin for coming in to teach UE2 about Chinese New Year. It was very interesting and the treats were delicious!

On Wednesday, we wore pink!

Rowan, Sadie, Nix, Evian, and Dimi came together to present the significance of Pink Shirt Day at their morning meeting on Wednesday.

They explained that Pink Shirt Day, held on the last Wednesday of February, is an annual anti-bullying event that started in 2007. “When a Gr. 9 student was bullied for wearing a pink shirt, two Gr. 12 students named Travis Price and David Shepherd distributed 50 pinks shirts the next day in support of the student. …

Pink Shirt Day promotes kindness, inclusion, and standing against bullying in schools, online, and in communities worldwide. It teaches us to not bully and to stand up for those who are bullied.”
