Montessori Buzz – Nov. 18, 2025

Dear MA Families and Friends,

Last call to RSVP: Guest Speaker on Nov. 27

The teachers enjoyed their session with Hillary Hartwig from InnerSpace Counselling on Friday’s PD Day so much that we’ve extended the deadline for this guest speaker … until tomorrow 4pm. This session will be incredibly helpful for many families as we’ll explore the cycle of anxiety and how parental responses can shape it; Hillary will offer practical strategies to reduce accommodation through effective communication and coping tools.

We’re happy to offer this free session to our families. RSVP and order your lunch through this link soon: https://forms.gle/9CGniLX5dJ7C8ti97

Fundraising update

Where Tuition Goes and Why Donations Matter

Tuition covers the essentials—keeping our classrooms running and paying our incredible staff, but donations make the extraordinary possible and create the enhancements that set us apart.

Most of your tuition dollars—about 70%—go directly to staff compensation, ensuring your child has dedicated, talented educators. The remaining funds cover essential operating costs like facilities, program supplies, and technology. These dollars keep our classrooms running, but they don’t cover the extras that make our programs exceptional—new playgrounds, upgraded libraries, digital media labs, and enhanced learning spaces. Those projects happen because of donations. View a PDF of the chart.

Annual Appeal launching Friday!

Something BIG is about to hit the gym! Watch for a letter later this week announcing our annual appeal and a campaign to fund a major improvement: a new gym floor that will benefit every student for years to come.

Montessori Academy of London is a registered charity. We’re committed to transparency—our annual T3010 filings are publicly available on the Canada Revenue Agency website.

1000 Acts of Kindness update

Our 1000 Acts of Kindness month wrapped up recently, and last week the students and teachers organized their donations for delivery. Thank you to all of the families who donated so generously to the various local charities. These opportunities for the children to learn about local charities helps to inspire compassion and understanding of the impact they can make in the world.

An update from Junior High’s 1000 Acts of Kindness campaign!

By the 519 Pursuit Committee of Junior High Students

Dear Parents,

Thank you for helping us reach our goal of fifty hats, and a thousand pairs of socks! You have truly helped us dearly with your unwavering support in our goal! After our final count on Halloween, we were pleased as punch to discover that we had not only reached the desired count, but surpassed it! The closing tally gave us fifty-seven hats, and a thousand twenty-six pairs of socks! These socks and hats are going directly to people in need! About seven hundred pairs of socks and the hats are going to Rolthone Family shelter, while the remaining socks are going in Christmas support packages!

Thank you again, to everyone who contributed in making the world a better place!

Infant program update

After five weeks together, the babies are so excited to visit the Infant Loft at 719 Waterloo St. They are eager to explore the infant Montessori materials and connect with one another. The adults have discussed preparing your home for baby, independence, weaning/feeding, toilet awareness, Practical Life, movement, teething temperament and separation. Language, sleep, art and music are to come. And in true Montessori spirit, we follow the lead of the children … and support their parents. Registration is open for the Winter Session – the Movers (10-18 months old) session now has a waiting list, but there are some spots in the Infant (2-10 months old) session. Casa England Study

To wrap up our study of England, Casa 3 hosted afternoon tea with our Kings and Queens.

Remembrance Day Assembly and activities

Remembrance Day is an opportunity for our students to reflect and express gratitude to the members of our armed forces, past and present, who have served our nation in times of war and peace. The Elementary and Junior High Assembly is always a beautiful expression of that gratitude. In Casa, the students learned about the heroes and their sacrifices they made for Canadians.

Upper El’s downhill fun!

UE took advantage of the beautiful snow on Monday to go sledding for their Phys Ed class. It was SNOW much fun.
