New video: a peek inside our community

Over the past 5 years, as part of our Admissions process, we have asked families to watch a video providing an overview of Montessori, our curriculum and our community. It had served us well, but it was time for a re-boot … and Shawn, Rowan, Nix, and Sadie (behind the scenes), have delivered! Grab a beverage, and settle in to watch this MA-zing 15-minute peek inside our school: https://vimeo.com/1126242301/2e52beb8a0?share=copy

MA Aluma in the news

Maya Kelly, a graduate of our school, has a short film that will be shared as part of the Forest City Film Festival. A story about a family who created “a safe space for Jewish families free from antisemitism and societal exclusion in post-WWII Ontario,” the short film No dogs, No Jews, uses interviews and archival photos to share the history of a cottage community that transformed as the world did. This short will be one of five films shown as part of the “Forest City Frames” shorts program.

Photos from the week

Happy Diwali!

Diwali is the festival of lights, celebrating the victory of good over evil. Throughout the school, our students learned about this holiday in which homes glow with diyas, sweets are shared, and hearts are filled with joy!

Learning to write in Casa

When you are learning to write your numbers we start with tracing our sandpaper numbers, then move on to writing them in cornmeal. This experience intrigues the child while also creating a sensory impression on how the numeral is formed. This first year Casa student’s face says it all when she sees the number 6 she has just written.
