Montessori Buzz – Oct. 28, 2025
Dear MA Families and Friends,
FYI: School Closure and Delayed Start policies
Winter weather predictions are that it’s going to be a snowy season this year. Here’s a rundown of our weather-related school closure and delayed start policies.
School Closure
In the event of severe weather, school leadership will make a decision about closing the school by 6:45 am, if possible. If we decide to close the school, we will send a push notification via the MA Parent App (under Notices), with updates on social media. If you have not received a push notification or see the Notice in the app by 7:25 am, it is safe to assume the school is open. Please ensure you’ve enabled Notifications in the app.
We follow the London District Catholic School Board – if the LDCSB school board closes all city schools, Montessori Academy will close, too.
Delayed Start
In the case of extremely bad road conditions (ie. due to ice, heavy snow; LDCSB buses to city schools are cancelled), our school leadership may decide on a ‘delayed start’ to the school day. In such instances, there will be no Early Hours program, and school will start at 9:30 a.m. A push notification will be sent to MA families via the MA Parent app by 6:45 a.m.
We will follow up any school-closure or delayed start notification with posts/stories via Instagram and Facebook, and update our website’s homepage and the Reception phone message. However, we ask families to please check the MA Parent App’s Notices first for school closure announcements.
Changes to Elementary late drop-offs
Beginning Monday, November 3, we kindly ask that parents dropping off students after the scheduled start time proceed to the Main Office to sign them in. A staff member will be happy to escort your child to their cubby and classroom. To minimize disruption to the morning routine of all students, we ask that parents do not walk through the Elementary buildings unaccompanied. If your child has Specialties, you will be given a late slip and asked to escort them to the class location.
