Montessori Buzz – Sept. 30, 2025

Dear MA Families & Friends,

Parking, pick-up and drop-off reminders

A friendly reminder to please review our parking procedures for your location and adhere to all “No Parking” signs.

At our downtown locations, please do not block our neighbours’ driveways; there is no parking or turning around in neighbours’ or school driveways along Piccadilly. This is unsafe for the children and an inconvenience for our neighbours.

Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring a smooth, safe start and end to the school day!

1000 Acts of Kindness month

Tomorrow kicks off 1000 Acts of Kindness month in our community. Watch for your October classroom letters detailing the charitable giving your child’s classroom will take part in. Tag the school if you share any acts of kindness on your social media throughout October! On Instagram and Facebook: @MontessoriAcademyOfLondon

Board Welcome message on Thursday

Watch for a special welcome message from the president of our Board of Governors, Andrea Dean, that we’ll share on Thursday via the MA Parent App – under The Buzz.

Illnesses policies

With the cold and flu season upon us and an increase in the number of absences due to illness, we want to remind parents of the procedures around illness.

Please familiarize yourself with the Communicable Illness chart in the printed Year at a Glance (PDF) that was sent home during the first week of school, and record illnesses through the MA Parent App.

The Toddler and Casa programs are regulated by the Middlesex-London Health Unit and the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA). Toddler and Casa families received a letter last week detailing some instances where the Health Unit guidelines may override what is noted for the whole-school community.

We appreciate everyone’s support in keeping our students and staff healthy during this cold and flu season.

Walk for the Animals: fundraiser for the Humane Society

Our Casa classrooms are supporting the Humane Society of London & Middlesex this month for 1000 Acts of Kindness, and they asked us to share information about an event with our families! The Humane Society’s big fundraiser, Walk for the Animals, is coming up on Sunday, October 5, at Gibbons Park! They will have a bouncy castle, dog bingo, paint your pet station, adopt a toy dog, and more! Learn more about the event here: https://www.hslm.ca/walkfortheanimals/

Harvest socials

The Harvest Social is a special tradition in our school! We are grateful to have this opportunity, within the first few weeks of school, to gather as a classroom community. This is often the first time that families who are new to our program have a chance to meet and spend time with families who have been part of our school community for longer.

Through these socials, we witness new friendships just beginning, some of which will last for years to come. We look forward to an MA-zing 2025-2026 school year! More socials are taking place this week!

Waterloo Casa seeing green

How cool is this? We were so excited to find a praying mantis last week.

UE1 celebrating comm-UNITY!

Upper Elementary 1 collaborated to make a unique community bulletin board. All of September we worked together to create community while celebrating our unique personalities.

Junior High’s Safe food handling lesson

As part of our Junior High cooking program, students participate in a food handling course. We thank Karen from the Middlesex-London Health Unit, who joined us to talk about the fundamentals of food safety; understanding food-borne illnesses and contamination; proper personal hygiene; safe temperature control; plus the principles of receiving, storing, preparing, and serving food safely!
