Orange Shirt Day in Toddler and Casa

‘Stand Like A Cedar’ by Nicola I. Campbell & Carrielynn Victor is a beautiful story that takes us into the wilderness. It helps us appreciate the beauty of all living things and shows the importance of nature in the culture and lives of Indigenous peoples. This is a gentle way for our youngest learners to begin understanding and honouring Indigenous teachings.

Orange Shirt Day in Junior High

On September 30, we began our day in Junior High as we always do: in a circle, gathered for a student-led morning meeting. This one, however, was very powerful; the students spoke and recognized the need for continued Truth and Reconciliation, honouring the lives of Indigenous families and students who were forever changed by Residential schools. As adults, it is always humbling when we step back and witness what adolescents carry in their hearts and minds so grateful for this time together today.
