Montessori Buzz – Sept. 17, 2024
Our MA Terry Fox Run is Monday
Montessori Academy is hosting a Terry Fox Run on Monday, September 23, 2024. This run is for our entire Elementary/JH community. Lower, Upper and JH students will run or walk with their class at a predetermined time at Piccadilly Park – the schedule is below.
Our Casas will host their own events at their locations.
We invite students and teachers to bring in loose change so that the school can make a donation to aid the Terry Fox Foundation in cancer research. Parents, please come and join us and help carry the legacy of Terry Fox into the future!

Register for our October 10 ‘Parent Talk’ session
Guest speaker Julia Swaigen MSW, RSW, will join us on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 3-4:30pm, for an insightful Parent Talk session on setting limits. Her approach aligns so beautifully with Montessori, so we’re thrilled to have her join us.
Julia is an Adjunct Lecturer at U of T and the Director of Attuned Families. She has been working with children, families and schools for 20 years and has been quoted in The New York Times, The Toronto Star, and Celebrity Parents Magazine. Julia helps schools and families harness the power of relationship so that grown-ups find peace and children thrive.
Reserve your spot through this Google Form. Families registered for the event will have access to free after-school care that day. We’ll email a reminder with final details to registered families closer to the event.
Orange Shirt Day is Sept. 30
September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. Students and staff are encouraged to wear orange on Monday, Sept. 30 to show our solidarity with the indigenous community and our commitment to listening and learning about the real history of Canada.
Outdoor Movie Night is Oct. 3
Our Family Outdoor Movie Night is coming up on Thursday, Oct. 3rd. We’re narrowing down the movie selections right now – watch for an email from your parent reps with all of the details and a sign-up sheet to reserve your family’s spot.
