Montessori Buzz – Sept. 10, 2024

Dear MA Families & Friends,

New JH French teacher

We are very excited to share with you that Marty Kolls is returning to MA and joining the Junior High team as their French teacher. Many of our families know Marty; she was our Lower Elementary music teacher for 10 years. She took some time away over the last two years to focus on her music career and other opportunities. When this French position arose at the school, she was excited to take it on. Marty grew up in New Brunswick, which is a bilingual province, attending French elementary and high school, so she is fully bilingual. She has also volunteered at the Acadamie de la Tamise teaching music in French and has also performed her own music in French. Marty is very excited to return to her Montessori roots and we know that she will be a great addition to the Junior High team.

Guest Speaker – Oct. 10: Register to secure your spot

We are excited to welcome Julia Swaigen MSW, RSW back to our school. She’s provided valuable PD to our staff and joined us last year for another Parent Talk

On Thursday, Oct. 10 – from 3-4:30pm, she will facilitate “Parent Talk: Supporting Kids by Setting Limits.” Many parents/caregivers struggle to set limits with their children. This can be one of the trickiest parts of parenting/caregiving, yet such an important part! In this engaging parent session, Julia will discuss why setting limits is so important, common challenges to setting limits, and how to set limits successfully.

Join us to discuss a practice that is critical to healthy child development, yet tricky to implement.

Julia is an Adjunct Lecturer at  U of T and the Director of Attuned Families. She has been working with children, families and schools for 20 years and has been quoted in The New York Times, The Toronto Star, and Celebrity Parents Magazine. Julia helps schools and families harness the power of relationship so that grown-ups find peace and children thrive.
