Montessori Buzz – Sept. 3, 2024
A welcome message from our Principal, Kristen Crouse
Welcome Back!
I hope that everyone had a relaxing, fun-filled summer with their family and friends. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome both returning and new families to what I feel is the most amazing place to be – our School!!
We are looking forward to all the amazing activities and events that we have planned this year, including our fall classroom events and family movie night, the Journey to Discovery, our Winter Concert in December, and the Musical in April, to name just a few.
This Buzz, which is sent to you on Tuesdays, carries a wealth of information about what is currently happening in the school. Also, we will launch our new MA Parent App this fall, which will be where you will find your monthly letters that contain details of what is going on in your child’s specific classroom. More details on the app will be shared soon.
Your child’s teachers are your go-to people for any information; they are committed to your children and their success, and I know from years of experience that the relationships established with the teachers, children and parents last a lifetime.
I would like to thank the Parent Reps for the upcoming work they will be doing to support the teachers and parents. You will get to know them very soon for your child’s class. The parent reps’ main responsibility is supporting the classroom teachers and Admin team in delivering important messages to you, so watch for emails from them.
I hope that you hear some great stories from your child today about their first day at school! As well, please know that my door is always open and I am looking forward to reconnecting with current families and meeting our new ones.
Warmest regards,
Kristen Crouse
Principal
Welcome, Tara – our new JH staff member
Please join us in welcoming Tara Cascaden to the Junior High team this year. Tara brings experience working in a Waldorf setting, as well as her Bachelor of Science degree, to the Junior High team; she will co-teach Science with Kerry Anderson. Tara’s son Xander is starting in our Upper Elementary program in Year 6. Tara was already planning to join our team as a float teacher while completing her elementary training. With this change in plans, Tara will pause her elementary training and complete the Orientation to Adolescent program this fall. She is very excited to join the team.
Our new Vision, Mission & Values!
Our Vision, Mission, Values refresh!
Last year, we engaged our community, including JH students, staff, parents, board members, alumni and friends of the school, to help us refresh our Vision, Mission and Values statements.
With the help of Platinum Leadership and your valuable input, our VMV Steering Committee crafted new statements that we feel truly reflect our school and will guide us to a brilliant future.
And though we had a wealth of comments and thoughts to review after the surveys, focus groups and interviews concluded, it was not surprising that there were a number of common words, ideas and themes that rose to the top! Thank you to everyone who participated in this activity.
Please take a few minutes to watch this beautiful video Junior High teacher Shawn Butler has created to introduce our new Vision, Mission and Values: https://vimeo.com/1001029280/427503aacf?share=copy

Welcome, Casa students!
We welcomed our youngest students into their classrooms last week. Phasing-In for new Toddler and Casa students provides the children the chance to ease into their new classroom environment and spend time with their new teachers in smaller groups.
UE2 team building
As part of their first-day team building, UE2’s students tried the Pringles Challenge! In the Pringles Challenge, students build a ring using only Pringles chips … no tape or glue is allowed!
